I was informed by my host at a bed and breakfast in town that these buildings were renovated in the 15th century when chimneys were installed. Prior to that smoke merely exited through a hole in the roof. I imagine hot baths and dental floss were not even dreamed of.

The gorge in this photo is near the site of disvovery of the oldest human remains in Europe. It also where my photos became much more difficult. It is where I left my tripod on the side of the road. I imagine that there was a very happy finder of that tripod. They make some very good wine in this place and that night was a good time to try some.

Out side the town of Cadaques on Spain's Costa Brava is a small village that was the home of Salvatore Dali. This is a small view of the home ,now a museum open to visitors by previous appointment only.
